In this workshop participants will learn how to use a combination of watercolor techniques to paint a beautiful poppy. Participants will practice the painting techniques and experiment with various color combinations. I will provide participants with color theory handouts and a curated paint palette to create a harmonious design. Once they have chosen the colors for the background and poppies, they will work in wet on wet watercolor layers to create dimension in the flowers. While we allow one painting to start drying, we will start a second one. Participants will be painting on 2” x 3” pieces of Arches cold press paper, with hand torn deckled edges that invoke a rustic and romantic feeling. The last step is to add details in the center of the flower, and to use the scraping technique on the petals. Everyone will take two miniature (2.5” x 3.5”) floating frames with them to display their new creations.
